BTH Bank is no longer doing business under that name because it has been merged or acquired. See the successor institution Origin Bank.
was going to open and account and transfer some maturing CDs.
Came time to do the paperwork, and my contact in their home office was not there. Got tossed around and got the feeling they really did not want business that was not immediately local and next to their brink and mortar. Had been lead to believe otherwise, but this is the reality.
So, good rates if you are nearby. ELSE, plenty of other places to take your funds. They act like they are doing YOU a favor by giving you an account. NOT MY CUP OF TEA.
I have had CD's and MMA's at BTH for years and am a major depositor. 8 CD's came due Sunday. I was contacted by my bank officer a few weeks ago about renewal. They told me their rates and I selected 1.10 for 18 mo., which was a good rate. Paperwork was a bigger hassle than ever before. I received the paperwork last week and spent considerable time completing it. CD's matured over the weekend and before I could submit the paperwork, I was notified the rate had cratered from 1.10 to .9. I expected them to honor the rate we had discussed, but BTH refused saying rates were subject to change without notice. I contacted the bank president who seemed to care less about the long term relationship, the loss of substantial deposits and my business. She refused to honor the rate so I picked up the redemption checks today and moved the accounts to a bank that offered a better rate and customer service.
