From the Bank

City CU started in 1942 with only $50 in deposits, the minimum amount required to obtain a credit union charter from the State of Texas. City CU’s first official meeting was on August 24, 1942, in the Central Council Chamber of the old City Hall. It was decided that the Board of Directors would consist of nine members, with a three-person Supervisory Committee. Operations began in a small cubby hole in the Police Detail room in the basement of the old City Hall. The credit union soon outgrew the space and moved to the fourth floor of the old City Hall. The first financial statement was completed on August 31, 1942. Loans outstanding totaled $100; total cash was $1,712 and assets totaled $1,812.

Today

Now, 80 years later, we serve communities across the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. Led by President and CEO Sharon Moore, City CU has grown to more than $600 million in assets, with 36,000 members and 100 employees.

City CU continues to provide low-cost financial products, great rates on consumer loans and free financial education and counseling to anyone. At City CU, we’re making the difference, one member at a time.

Field of Membership Restrictions

City CU offers membership to individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Texas counties of Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, or Wise. Employees and members of more than 180 Select Employer Groups also qualify for membership.

Went to local branch yesterday and put a little money to work in a 5 year cd. Lots of activity in the drive through. Seems like they a good local presence.

A little dated in their capabilities: no electronic transfers, which was ok with me because they're 15 minutes away.

Do Not Trust These People

Posted by: |

The other negative reviews here are all true. I have experienced the same problems, and more.

This is NOT a trustworthy bank. They seem to always be looking for a reason to gouge the customer or find a "gotcha".

I could write paragraphs about all the stunts they've pulled, but it would be TLDR, and neither you nor I have the time.

BOTTOM LINE: I have two other banks, no problems. What does that tell you?

Not Trustworthy

One minute this credit union tells you that you can open an account with them via email, then when you take the time to travel to the branch they then tell you that you are not eligible to open an account with them.

If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a huge favor and stay far far away from this credit union.

Also while in the branch, another customer came in to report fraud on their account so I don't know how secure their systems and apps really are.

VERY UNHAPPY CUSTIOMER

DO NOT BANK WITH THIS CU!!!!!!! They are one of a very FEW INSTITUTUIONS in the USA which charge an early withdrawal penalty on your RMD's which are required by IRS be withdrawn annually. Also, by virtue of closing an account in the middle of the month, they withheld the entire amount of ACCRUED INTEREST which amounted to well over $400.00 in my case. BETTER READ THE FINE PRINT IN THE DISCLOSURE BEFORE DEPOSITING ANY MONEY!!!!! They will screw you if given a chance.

BEWARE------------BEWARE----------BEWARE

Awful Service!!!

I have not gotten any previous letters, phone calls, notifications on my online account or anything before getting a letter that they’re going to close my account. I tried to call to get things straightened out and they asked for a card number. I never received a card, I have a car loan through the bank. I will never go through this bank for a loan ever again. I would not recommend anyone to go through them. They also make it a living hell to make loan payments online.

WORST BANK EVER!!!

I’ve had this bank for 8 years... they continue and continue to over draft my account even if there is enough money to cover all my transactions... they post a “funds held” charge of $30 then overdraft any of my future transactions.. their lucky number is 3 they always seem to overdraft me 3 charges... so they charged me $90 in over draft fees and my account is $93 negative..... how am I negative only $93 if I overdrafted 3 times... they over draft you before you are negative cause that money to come out of your account. Their math doesn’t make sense and they can’t seem to explain to me how it happened. Stay away far far away. I wrote a review on their fb page and they totally disabled the review section... I wonder why
