Opened Savings and Shared Certificate accounts.
Easy to do, website awesome, and NO complaints.
I had many questions that came up, before, during and after accounts were opened.
This required me to call customer service many times.
All phone calls were picked up ASAP, all question answered so I could understand.
Customer reps are awesome.
And as of today, BEST APY RATES for the time frames I picked.
I opened the basic account in preparation to open a CD when I was informed that they have 10k daily\15k monthly transfer limits. They suggested using a wire transfer but of course there are fees when you do a wire. If I want to open a 50k CD they said it would take 3 months to get they money in\out via regular ACH. I just haven't had this experience with any of the numerous banks I've dealt with. I think you can get around the funding limit by funding your CD when you open it, but I was told by customer support to open the basic account first and then open the CD after and of course after that I was subjected to to the daily\monthly limit. So I'm a no go on this bank, if i did do a CD I would be forced to do a manual wire transfer when the CD matures to get the money out (or do 15k transfers for 3 consecutive months.) The online interface is not bad for a credit union. Customer support was extremally nice but not well informed, they are used to doing business face to face and I think the calls for the online business are routed to normal bank employees, which are not up to date on the online operations.
After I was denied twice "electronically" with "cannot verify identity-go apply in person" emails within a couple hours of applications (this seems to be what happens to most applicants from various comments throughout the blog-even though Chex score and answers were satisfactory) and then I applied again 3 days later via a phone convo with a CSR - after I was initially told that was possible; I Never got the return/application for signature email promised to print and sign for membership - as I was told by the CSR. Yet another phone call and various call backs with a CSR who supposedly talked to a manager in new accounts and pulling the tape of the convo etc.,
NOW: if you were declined electronically (failed identity verification the most common or Chex System denial the second most common reason), you CANNOT apply via phone and with CSR and can ONLY reattempt electronically or in person after 48 hours~.
I'll wait a few days and try one more time but, it appears that very few can take advantage of the great 5.50% APY offer unless you can apply in person locally at any branch.
(The ability to choose a maturity 24-35 mos was a perfect fit for my CD ladder in the CY'26 timeframe. Bummer. I am also looking at University FCU whom did email me back that you do NOT have to be a Texas Resident to apply for the 48 mo 5% APY CD that I want to fill cy' 27 maturity in my ladder).
It appears from comments and process that this is NOT an "easy membership" CU. It is available nationally but, is "hit and miss" in applying/acceptance. Be VERY careful with your Chex answers and have clear, sharp ID pics to upload in hope of approval. It's best to JUST start with the share account and once approved, THEN acquire the CD.
Not impressed with service, wait times, product line, CSR answers that conflict, etc., et all but, for just a CD and share account to compound and having physical branches and being a member of the national CU co-op, this CU did appear to be satisfactory for parking money but alas, applying will be a frustrating, time-consuming process - if one can get membership at all.
I have been trying to get the interest from my CD transferred into my Savings on a monthly basis.
I had to call to set this up. They say its all set, but the money never gets transferred. Now I can't get them on the phone and my Emails go unanswered!!!
