Pretty certain my account info was shared with the person who helped me get an account there in the first place. Misguidedly trusted this person only to learn they were likely sharing my activities there with her. over decades.
After having this account for so long, I decided to keep it and that person is deceased anyway. Recently however, they paid some other person's electric bill out of my account. So I guess if I didn't catch it, I'd have been paying their 210 dollar electric bill for months?
I've done ACH forms in insurance for decades and it's almost impossible to get someone else's money put towards the wrong person's insurance premium for example. They corrected it, but after over 30 years of no mistakes like this either in my biz or with this or any OTHER bank, I find this sketchy given the current situation in the world. Watch out for these people. They play too fast and loose.
No response from them when I emailed about my concerns regarding how not easy it is for this kind of mistake to happen. There are several safeguards in place, such as names don't match etc.
Update- They shut down my ability to see my bill pay side of things, but the bill pay is still spitting out payments. The cut off access to that because I don't own or use a mark of the beast phone. My account is soon to be shut down as well. They are non responsive when I tell them I can't and will NOT use cell phones. Now I have to change my retirement deposits to an entirely new bank, after banking here for over 4 decades.
Dec 4 update-
I called two days in a row and including hold times, I wasted an hour each day. Normal hold times historically were 3 minutes on average. Told them it was obvious they messed up whatever transition they were trying to do as so many people were calling and waiting on hold.
Had to ask for a supervisor to stop my auto payments on my bill pay and told them I am leaving this bank after 40 plus years. They retaliated the next day by shutting down ALL access to my account onlne. They also did NOT stop my auto payments and they continue on to this day. I am gaslighted whenever I call them with long hold times and lies and abuse. I've filed a complaint w/ the governing body for credit unions who has done nothing but turn it back over to these abusers.
I've filed a complaint to the state about financial exploitation of the elderly given they have paid other people's electric bills from my account and now a few months later have come up with an excuse why I can't monitor my account online to prevent that from happening again. I'm a 66 yo disabled veteran.
These people had the nerve to send me a letter, that did not contain the remaining funds of my account, stating that I not only received the codes for the new online access 'in my EMAIL', but I also opened the emais.. Of course they provided no proof of this... They add insult to injury by LYING & accusing me of lying. Why would a 40 year customer of a bank make up a story like this? These people are insane.
They basically threw everyone off their platform and let the customers figure it out. Their phones were log jammed for weeks. and those w/o cell phones were SOL. Glad to have them in my rear view mirror.
