Been Banking With Them For 4 Years Now

Posted by: |

Great credit union, other than the bumpy start on setting up my first initial account due to missed emails it has been great. They really care about the member and try their best to help, I know they are pushing out new items a lot and trying to catch up with some competitors on stuff. Overall I have been impressed with the technology and all that they do. I moved from Mountain America CU and Chase bank to them and they hold up their own. If anyone complains about the tech they use for banking it makes no sense to me since it is the same program and provider that MACU uses, there literally is no difference. Just a common misconception, I had the same thought when I first joined but have been pleasantly surprised. I have moved all of my loans over Auto and Mortgage and CC and had nothing but the best experience on all of those.

DFCU Members Come First

Five years with DFCU. Customer service is huge with them. They are helpful and fast at the drive up window and whenever we need to call in for anything, they are always understanding and resolve our issues quickly. DFCU has an amazing website that makes managing our account simple. Their billpay feature always us to pay curtain bills fast that can not be paid online. We never get charged fees, but when the occasional overdraft occurs, they are good about reversing it for us based on our history with them.

Change In Interest Rates For Checking

Posted by: |

As of October 1 2012 the interest rate that DFCU pays on checking accounts changed. Amounts up to $10,000 receive 1% interest (which is great) but any amounts over $10,000 only receive .1%.   I pulled out my money over the $10,000 mark and put it into an ING online checking account which pays .8%.   I am better off but it seems that DFCU might lose access to funds because of this change...

Not Customer Oriented

Something has changed at this credit union. Their customer service is horrible. Their web site always has a problem and there is never a warning posted that they are having troubles you just go in and it doesn't work.

More than that, they think that you should be forced to do business with them. They offer a car loan, but are quick to say, we will match any rate. Then when you get a better rate, they are not open so they can't match the rate.

If another credit union or bank will give you a better deal than your own credit union, why would you go back to them and give them your business...there is an element of fairness here.

Overall a C- institution.

Dishonest, Sketchy And Awful Customer Service

I’ve banked with Deseret first credit Union for almost 7 years. I don’t know why I haven’t left sooner because they are without a shadow of a doubt the most dishonest and difficult financial institution I have ever worked with. I’ve had multiple fees on my car loan I have had to have fixed that would continue to show up after every few months. It took me going to a much higher up and threatening to sue to get them to officially stop adding it. They’d admit it wasn’t supposed to be there, apologize then a few months later the fees would show up again!

The car loan isn’t the only one. Multiple times on my credit card and my checking account I have had different charges or fees that were wrong. I wish I could write it all but it would take too long.
But overall I realized the bank didn’t make me feel that my finances were secure. Not because it seemed unsecure from the outside but from the inside.

They also have awful customer service that is extremely difficult to get ahold of and when they answer it’s a call center. You can’t talk to anyone at the branch and so the typical call center stereotype is filled with people who don’t care too much to figure things out for you.

I have 3 others I know who have had similar issues with them. After 2 car loans, a credit card, a personal loan and a checking and savings account with them, I am officially leaving. It’s taking me far too long but it’s been hard with having so much of my bills with them.
For an institution that is supposed to be based off of serving the LDS community, they sure are not very ethical. I will never recommend them to anyone and I am glad to leave them and go back to an old bank of mine that never made me feel nervous about whether they were being honest with me or not.

I am filing a complaint with the district attorneys office and hoping to have them looked into. It’s long overdue

Worst Customer Service Ever

Just hope no one in my family or friends read this , they are the worst customer service now. I swear i think there system is stupid now when it comes to someone who works in the army and they are your boyfriend who is trying to come home safely but he helps you out and lets you depsot his checks it into your own bank account with his phone and he never knew the passedword or username ever , and you have been with them for 4 months and no one in your family knows about it yet and he wanted to come home so he can meet my family. expect for the stupid bank doesn't believe you at all when i know his paychecks are good and wont bounce at all and he was trying to come home so he can be add to my account too. but the person that i called today didn't give a f***** care. sorry about my langue on here. If you know anyone who has family or loved ones serving you know that there paychecks are different from anyone else and there banking is different why cant the people in the stupid banking department get that through there minds. Expressing my feelings on here. If i did it in person i would of cried and start swearing at the people. And you have been emailing his work to about him coming home for weeks. and i know he is real because hes been sending me pics from real time.
