EECU is a member-owned credit union that offers a broad range of personal and business banking products and services. It is focused on providing saving, lending, and investing solutions to its local community.
On its personal banking side, EECU offers checking, savings, money market, and certificates of deposit accounts. Its checking accounts come with access to a financial management program used by the credit union to offer members a way to track savings and expenses. There are also checking accounts available that are more geared toward young adults and seniors. EECU features a hybrid money market checking account that has a minimum opening deposit and daily balance requirement, but comes with a debit card, online banking, and discounts on select loans. The credit union’s savings accounts offer the ability to borrow against the amount of funds in a given account and require a minimum average daily balance in order to earn dividends. Money market savings have minimum initial deposit requirements and offer increased interest rates based on account balances. EECU also offers certificates of deposit that range in term lengths from 3 to 60 months and offer dividends when average daily balances are kept.
EECU online banking allows members to access and manage their accounts, utilize financial management software, transfer funds, and pay bills. The credit union also offers smartphone apps that enable members to perform online banking functions while on the go.
EECU was established in 1934 when a group of educators and administrators pooled funds together in an effort to better serve the needs of educators in the Forth Worth community. Since then, EECU has expanded its membership to geographical residents and now serves hundreds of thousands of members through multiple branches in the Texas region.
Membership in EECU is open to anyone in the state of Texas through an EECU Community Foundation membership (credit union will facilitate joining). Membership is also open to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Texas counties of Bosque, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hill, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, or Wise. Individuals who work for any educational institution, business, association, hospital, or municipality in the Fort Worth area, including Young County, are eligible to join. Relatives of someone who meets membership requirements or is already an EECU member also qualify for membership.
