Went into my local EECU where have been member for long time--to take out a 17Mo CD at 2.80 rate. I have had my teaching and retirement checks deposited here but didn't do any real business with EECU. My husband (not a member/teacher) went so we could deposit the max for two person CD.
We discovered that rate was closed end of Sept. We said OK--and got up to leave for different bank w/better rate. Debra the CS person we were talking with called a supervisor and was able to get him to agree to give us the 2.80 rate.
Took longer because she had to make changes on software documentation to fit our need--and there were couple of other issues--but we were ok with the wait. The penalty is 180 days of interest and can get the interest withdrawn if we want it during term of the CD...don't think we will need that but good to have.
I guess this is one reason to use a local back or CU.
I have always had good service when using EECU and this was very helpful/positive reaction from the staff at my Hurst branch. Debra also took the time to add my two adult children as beneficiaries to our CD and to my checking/saving accounts.
I have been banking with this institution for 18 years. They have been reliable and easy to use for that duration. I have both a checking account and a savings account with them. I almost exclusively use their online banking platform and am able to deposit checks, pay bills, and move money to my savings account though the app on my phone. They have also partnered with 7-11 and I can use their ATM's for free. A great bank! I highly recommend!
I have been a member of Educational Employees Credit Union for 20 years. They made getting my first auto loan very easy and matched an offer I received from other lenders. If my checking account is overdrawn they transfer money from my savings account for a small fee instead of charging $20 fees for every transaction I make. I have had other banks charge huge fees for overdrawing my account by as little as $10. The loan rates are great and they offer competitive CD rates as well.
EECU will nickle-and-dime their 'members' every opportunity! I have been a member of EECU for 20 years. I have had issues with them for 20 years but, have been too busy to look for a new bank. I pay $6/month for a checking account that 'covers overage fees' and privides other benefits. EECU will rush all of your charges through before they make your deposit placed at 4:00pm the day before. Then, they will charge you $32 per transaction (my TOTAL charges were less than $2 more than what was currently in my bank, predeposit)...they push all of the charges through if the TOTAL is over what is in your account, they will charge $32 fee for EVERY charge (including the $5 one)!
Additionally, I have jumped through hoops to make withdraws, do online bank, and wait on debit cards (after mine has expired) for decades. I have had issues in past (it's been pretty good for about a year now) with money being taken out, magically appearing back in my account, and coming back out (for years it seemed like they were trying to mess me up so they could charge/make-money-off-of me). Also, I had issues trying to use my card (when there was twice as much money in my account as the purchase) in the past! They finally got their online banking system working in 2016. Furthermore, I have met 2 EECU employees, in 2 decades, who have been helpful/friendly...their employees act like they HATE their jobs and I am bugging them by being in their bank at 3:00pm!
The "Final Straw" happened this year (2017). I had one overdraw (I pay $6/mo, remember, for 1 freebie every month) in past 4 or more months (I've kept $2,000-$6,000 in my account for past year except 2days between paying for vacation and payday in October); yet, I was charged a $32 fee in January for being less than $5 over (what happened to the once-a-month forgiveness that I pay for?). Then, they held an IRS deposit (over $1,000) for 5 business days (Thursday-Wednesday). On Sunday, I accidentally double-submitted a credit cards payment ($25) putting me $4.00 over my current balance. EECU charged me a $32 fee even though they were 'holding' a large IRS deposit pending (which should have been released at that time anyways)!!! I'm done. My next day off, I am taking my monthly payments and $4,000 average account to another bank!
Now, I can't submit form via mobile device. Come-on EECU it's 2017, the time of Web 2.0 (mainly mobile devices)!!! Maybe it only hides the submit button if the review has less than 5stars. I know them well enough that I copied my entire review to submit over-and-over until I get it to take! Lol
I was charged 32.00 dollars for not having 9 cents in my account what a rip off I had 3190 in my account and the charge was 3199 the declined and charged 32 dollar fee
I've been with this credit union for years and a few days ago someone got my account information from them a stole over $700 from me. They reacted very slow with the situation. I am very unsatisfied. But other than there slow reaction to this fraud issue, the bank is slow with updating information on your account and you have to check and change it about 3 times before they get it correct.
