I have been banking with First Citizens since I was a child and opened my first savings account. I was always treated with patience and had everything explained clearly, as one should to a child. This bank provides overdraft protection, which was useful to me during my college days when I overdrew my checking account several times. I spent several years after college traveling internationally in third world countries volunteering and doing human rights work independently. First Citizens always provided me service, even going so far as to set my debit card up to work internationally without limitations. This incurred no extra fees on my part. On the only occasion where my card information was stolen, the bank immediately noticed, froze my card, and actually closed the account to avoid loss on my part. As soon as I was in the United States again, the manager personally activated my already set up and waiting new account and card. Due to new regulations, I must activate my card each time I leave the United States, which I do often. I always receive almost instant service and have never been caught short or made to wait. I cannot be positive enough about the personal care and service I have been given by this institution over the years. My information has been kept secure, my money has been kept safe even when my card was compromised through no fault of the bank, and I am always responded to quickly and efficiently regardless of my need.
I have used First Citizens Bank for three different accounts. I've used them for checking, savings and my first car loan. In fact, my first memory of banking was with them and my usage of a passbook savings account. Later, when I was in high school I had my first checking account. Later in college, I had my first car loan with them. Overall, the level of service was good, and it helped that their local branches hired local people to work in them. I know of several people who worked there that I would see when I did whatever banking business I needed to do, and that level of familiarity is almost impossible to find in this age of increasing bank mergers and consolidations. I know the days of local service have pretty much gone away, but the small community banks that remain will always offer service that larger banks are lacking.
First Citizens Community Bank is the best. The customer service reps are always friendly and helpful. The online banking is wonderful to access 24/7. When I married, they were very polite and helpful getting all my name changes done. They also work very quickly so I don't stand in line a lot. They also do eStatements online which is a plus. It makes less paper mail that I am just going to trash anyways. I can go to the online bank and view my transactions and checks anytime I would like. I would not trade to a different institution for any reason.
