I've been a member of this credit union for 11 years. Almost 4 years ago I moved to another city. Due to various reasons that were no fault of the bank my debit card needed replaced multiple times (fraudulant activity, lost card) my pin would need reset etc. Each time I explained my situation that I was 4 hours away (it's a small credit union there are no other branches) and couldn't come in for a new card or pin replacement. Each time it'd be 7-10 BUSINESS days to get a new one, to get access to my funds. First of all, who doesn't offer expedited shipping now, and 7-10 business days is 1/2 a month. Only after 2 years of complaining and advising I'd drive all the way down there to cancel my account did someone tell me about branch sharing. I was livid. Greatful I was finally told but beyond angry at the fact no one had made mention of this option from the beginning. There are sub-par offerings of services and overall I'm not satisfied with my banking experience. The website is always down, I can't see my pending charges.
For the most part everyone has been friendly and pleasant. The downside to a small local bank I feel there are no checks and balances... no one that focuses on the customer or the client because they don't have corporate policies or training or expectations on how to treat their clients. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to go above and beyond to help someone out. There are fewer products and services that are offered. The services that are offered, there are fewer choices and certainly not cutting edge.
