Macon Atlanta State Bank: Small Town, Limited Options

Posted by: |

Macon Atlanta was the first bank I ever used. My parents created a savings account for me when I was born, and I always stowed away some of my birthday or Christmas money there. I had a Johnny Appleseed savings account until I was around 16, and I'm not exactly sure what I had after that. The Johnny Appleseed account is really cute: if a kid deposits at least a dollar every month, they get a small prize to encourage them to save money. I'm not sure about account limits or anything, as my parents were the ones that set it up, but I'm assuming it was reasonable. I switched to Wells Fargo when I left the area to go to college, because Macon Atlanta is only in a small part of Missouri. I originally intended for Wells Fargo to just be my emergency money, but due to problems with Macon Atlanta not accepting my work debit card, I had to completely switch to Wells Fargo. I kept $200, the minimum, in my old account, but closed it at the end of the year because they said they would start charging accounts they decided were dormant, which mine would become. The intention was to keep my account open in case I needed a loan, so I could get it there, but I guess that won't happen. I never used the online banking, so I don't know how that is with Macon Atlanta.

Just called and you MUST COME INTO a branch to open an account for the first time.

Major Problems With Debit Cards

THEY NEED TO CALL BEFORE SHUTTING CARD OFF PERIOD! DISRESPECT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR CUTTING CARDS OFF FIRST THEN NOT TELLING CUSTOMERS AND LETTING THEM FIND OUT ON OWNthey are bad about cutting your bank card off with no warning! Fraud department cuts your card off first and no one calls you to tell you about it! You just try to use card and denied! Then no one that can turn card on after 4 pm and they make you get a new card every time. Making you drive to their bank to do so. if ya do get a hold someone at bank, they tell ya yes the card will be turned back on then did not, then closed for the day. then called 1800 number another branch gave me to fraud department and they could not turn card on and have to wait and go to bank lobby next day! VERY DISSATISFIED!! THEY NEED 24/7 DEBIT CARD SERVICE THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF CUSTOMERS AND FIX CARDS! was lucky and it did not happen after i tried to get gas or already ate some where! would not recomend putting all money there or using as a main account for fear of your card getting shut off and not finding out til ya go to pay for something! THEY NEED TO CALL BEFORE SHUTTING CARD OFF PERIOD! DISRESPECT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR CUTTING CARDS OFF FIRST THEN NOT TELLING CUSTOMERS AND LETTING THEM FIND OUT ON OWN
