I had an account at this bank for many years, starting when I became an Ohio University student. There was no fee for having the account, and it worked very well. There are many ATM locations in the Athens area, and the bank is also linked to a network of no-fee ATMs, but I'm not sure exactly what as I never tried to go to the ATM outside of Athens. They had one quirk I had never seen before: they allowed withdrawals as low as $5 from ATMs. This was an excellent convenience especially for a college student who typically has very little money. One issue is that when I had an account I had to watch my balance very closely because purchases would disappear then re-appear and suddenly I would have a lot less money than I thought, but that's more my issue than it is this bank's issue. I highly recommend this bank. They were very helpful and a good resource for a college student or young adult. If you are in the Ohio University ecosystem this bank is a no-brainer.
Having used Ohio University Credit Union for many years now in regards to both Checking & Savings accounts I would say they have been very reliable. Their online offering is acceptable for a smaller credit union. Their app is very functional as well as their browser site. Their fees have been very low and even non-existent at times when you'd typically expect them to be there. For example, I had overdrawn my checking account with them one time as a college student and there were no fees. I was just required to pay back the amount as soon as possible. With other institutions this could have easily been a $45 fee or higher. I think they are very reasonable in this regard. Their customer service has always been good for me. They are friendly and responsive to any issues that I have had and continue to never let me down in that regard. Signing up for my checking and savings accounts with them was an easy and friendly process. The people that work here are very friendly in person, if you opt to set up your account through a walk-in. I would highly recommend this credit union if you are located around the greatern Athens, Ohio area.
