Customer Service in a Bygone Era
There are few businesses anymore that seem to be concerned with how they treat their customers. Service seems to have gone out the window, favored more for how many units of product or service can be pushed out in a minimum amount of time. When I go to People First, they mean exactly what they say in their title. I am never rushed; when I go in to make a deposit or withdraw some money, and many times going in person I do, the staff is courteous, friendly, and often go above and beyond to help me and answer any questions I have. I've had a loan with this institution, which was the beginning of our relationship, and it wasn't loaded down with unnecessary fees and other crap to pad their bottom line. I've also since started a checking and savings account with them as well, and while it isn't much, they do pay a noticeable interest rate, which again is more than I can say for traditional banks; their online system, while a bit crude, is also adequate for my transactions. Overall, I've been extremely thrilled with the overall experience here, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Fake Charges
DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT UNION! Put charges on my loan that should not have been added. Disputed them and got nothing but terrible customer service. Also you can't pay your loan online unless you have a checking with them.
Terrible Experience After Being A Loyal Customer
Worst customer service. I have been with them for over 11 years and got over 200 dollars worth of overdraft fees due to very small PayPal charges that should have never been allowed if my account was low. I withdrew my paycheck and going with another bank so that I don’t have to experience that ever again. I have really great credit and I’m in the hole now thanks to them. Their excuse for allowing these charges was that they are a credit union and not a bank. Thanks to them I lost all of the money I had earned on eBay.
DO NOT TRUST THIS CREDIT UNION
I do not recommend getting any loans through this lender. If there is some sort of discrepancy, when you call the main number to get help the call center has nothing but rude, ignorant people working who make you feel as though it is your fault. I have had two issues where I kept getting late notices on my loan when in fact I did pay them. When asking about why it has the loan as delinquent on my credit report (when in fact it was not) and how to get it off my credit report - the woman on the other end of the phone just says "you can't." She then says that I'd have to file a dispute. Good thing I kept all the receipts of payments made.
