The interest rate a NavyArmy has been a rock solid 3% for many years and 10 monthly debits is relatively easy to complete; however, for September, 2022 the CU increase the size of the minimum debit purchase to count for Rewards Checking is now $5.00.
This was the first bank account I set up on my own. The online set up was so easy and wait time on the phone was nothing. They answered any questions i had and helped me find the account type that would work best for my situation. They have monthly incentives that keep you wanting to use them more! They don't pull out outrageous monthly fees like I've heard banks do, and they made it super east to transfer money from my checking to my savings account. The website and phone app are very user friendly and it would be hard for someone to hack into my account becasue of all the extra security cautions they take!
The NavyArmy Community Credit Union is the best CU I have belonged to. They have friendly staff, whether at the teller windows or in the customer service area. They offer a wide variety of accounts including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, loans. One can have a personal account or a business account or both. The small initial deposit is left in the savings account. When it is $50.00 or more, interest and dividends accrue. There are three types of checking accounts. One allows money over a certain amount to accrue the best interest rates around...far better than any bank I know right now. A debit card is offered and ePay can direct a company to receive their payments from the account you choose. The online banking service is easy to navigate. They have phone service where a real person answers the phone during business hours and helps you through whatever you need as well as coming in and actually sitting face-to-face with a customer service rep. It is a great credit union to be a part of.
I have had a checking and savings account here for more than 20 years. When I started, it was Navy Army Federal Credit Union or NAFCU (now Navy Army Community Credit Union or NACCU). For the first 6 or 7 years, I lived in Corpus Christi, enjoyed my banking experience with NAFCU...customer service was always very professional and helpful. My account did go into dormancy for a few years after I moved out of state and began using a local bank in my new city, but NAFCU never charged me any kind of fee for non-use. Thank goodness I never closed the account because later I discovered their new reward checking account called Liberty Checking. The original interest rate of 4.5% was so awesome and customer service had no problem taking my checking account out of dormancy, returning it to active status, and changing it to a reward checking account. Since then I have been thrilled to resume use of my now NACCU reward checking account and have earned some great interest. The now 3.5% interest on all balances up to $25,000 has remained steady for several years now and is still a great rate comparatively. Customer service has also remained easy to work with. Haven't found any other checking options to tempt me away from NACCU.
The 2018 bonus dividend this year was 12%; that's 12% of the total dividends earned YTD.
WOW - just got in a notice today that they posted a deposit for a bonus dividend. This year, it was 18%. That 18% of the dividend values from Jan 2014 through Nov 2014.
I had a blended rate of 2.0% on some holdings. Times 1.18%, that brought me up to 2.36%.
I think the Bonus rate last year was 6%.
One of my life lines for years.
NOTE:
Updated Revision of my previous reviews --
1. Still my life line, with four (3%, $25K) Liberty Checking accounts!!
2. The simple 10 debit-card-transaction monthly requirement, coupled with (3% APY, $25K) is simply amazing!!!
Keep up the excellent work, NACCU!!!!
10 Sept 2022: Change my ratings due to the sneaky $5/debit card transaction change!
