Probably the worst experience I’ve had with a bank. Customer service was not helpful. Had to call several times to resolve issues when trying to transfer money. After accepting application for savings account, they sent a letter soon after saying they were closing it with no explanation at all. And to top it off, they restricted access to the account and waited a month before sending us a check for the account balance. My advice, choose another bank.
In addition to a non-customer ATM bank fee of $3 (to which I agreed to), I was charged $2,00 in order to view/print my checking account balance. This is a BLATANT money grab. This rating should be a ZERO, not a one.
I recently left a bank due to several name changes. Staff at Bank of Greene County were helpful and professional. I even brought my laptop into the branch and they assisted me in signing in to my account. I cannot say enough. I am finally an individual again and not just a number.
Bank of Greene county pays much better interest rates than my NYC bank. Their staff is always friendly, and does not have a high-pressure sales approach. I have been transitioning more and more of my relationship to BOGC, and hopefully they will help me refinance my home from Wells Fargo.
In the summer of 2017 my Ex-Wife had herself removed from my account. I followed up her removal with a call of my own to verify that I was the only account holder.
My online account and statements also reflected this.
On October 19th my accounts were completely cleaned out and I immediately reported the missing funds and the unauthorized use of my account and information.
I spoke with customer service twice and filed a fraud form. The bank informed me that my ex-wife was in-fact still listed on the account and she was entitled to withdraw the funds and that the case was now closed.
I am absolutely disgusted with this bank.
I have had many accounts over the years with numberous banks, nearly all of which were held at large national banks such as B of A and Citizens Bank.
I stumbled upon The Bank of Greene County due to a friend and never thought I would bank there, just hadn't crossed my mind as an option I guess.
Not only did I get a free IPOD during the IPOD promo give-away, The Bank of Greene County gives me 5.00% on my checking and savings account(s) up to a total balance of 1000.00 per account (allowed to have 4). Free checking accounts at many national banks are starting to vanish, but not at Greene County - still completely free.
In addition to a totally free account that earns 5.00% interest, I also earn hundreds of bonus points through the VISA rewards program associated with my debit card that Greene County participates in. I earn 100 points for each account, and for things like direct deposit, using online banking, bill pay, etc - up to a total of 1000 bonus points per month on top of points for using my debit card.
The only downside is there aren't many branches in my area but all in all, its a very rewarding relationship and I'm glad I came across The Bank of Greene County -
