Horrible And Rude Customer Service

I wanted to open a Jumbo Cd account with the bank and called customer service asking about the procedures to transfer the money in a safe way from my bank to Eagle Bank account.
Instead of answering my questions, she interrupted me and then she hung up on me.
Very unprofessional behavior, Never would trust my money with this bank.

Worst Bank For Opening Cds Online

Posted by: |

Worst bank for opening CDs online. Although opening a CD was smooth and straightforward online, when I tried to close the CD account upon maturity, I discovered that I needed to mail a form, which is an extra burden.

Additionally, reaching customer care over the phone is pretty bad; the call either doesn't connect or drops when an agent picks up. Stay away from this bank unless you have lot of time to waste!

Tried To Charge Me $36 For Insufficient Funds To Open A CD

Posted by: |

I tried to open a new CD with them using funds that I transferred into the savings acct. I have with them. The funds didn't come to that acct. until a few hours later. They charged me $36 for not having sufficient funds IN THEIR OWN ACCOUNT! I called and complained. The person who I talked to couldn't reverse the charge and had to escalate it to her supervisor. They finally reversed it but then left a snotty voice message on my phone saying they would never reverse any charges again. Well, I'll never open another account with them. Awful customer service!

CHEX Ruins It

Posted by: |

I too was denied by CHEX in December '24. I couldn't
figure out why with a CR of 798 and all the info they want. So, I applied under my wife's info, no problem. I stayed with it b/c of the rates. The one inconvenience
is I need my wife's phone around during authentication when banking. Their Deposit Growth is rated "F" on DA . So, I will not put more than 250K in.

Chex System Rejection

Posted by: |

Like others on this board, I was declined today due to a credit check by Eagle Bank using Chex Systems. I moved over to another Financial institution where the account was quickly approved within minutes. I see this is a common problem for the bank and like others, I have excellent credit and no dings on my reports. Not sure what Chex sees or finds within their reporting, but it seems Eagle bank is losing quality customers simply seeking a competitive return on CD monies.

Eaglebank Mastercard Data Spill

Yep, they exposed your data to the bad guys.

Not a good look for EagleBank.

Another CHEX Decline!!!

Posted by: |

I too was just declined for a new CD (large balance) due to CHEX. I wonder how much business this bank is losing due to CHEX! I have CDs at a number of financial institutions and routinely open new ones. This is my first CHEX decline. Makes me wonder exactly what info CHEX is providing to cause the decline. It can’t be credit score as mine is very high (and who needs a high credit score to open a CD….i am depositing money, not borrowing money). You have to provide a drivers license to prove identity so it makes me wonder what exactly they are using CHEX for as it seems based on all the posts about CHEX that they are providing bad information to the bank but seems bank doesn’t care. Don’t waste your time with applying (btw, they take your bank account info as part of the application process to fund the account…..so they have your info for the account you plan to use to fund the CD for declined applications). Maybe they should stick to in-branch only CDs!

Good CD Rates And Easy Purchase

Purchased jumbo 18 month CD at 4.71% APY (highest I could find at the time). Process online was straight forward and as easy as any bank I can remember. I was concerned at the end of application when it noted that approval would be in one or two business days as I hate to lose interest! Actual approval was within the hour of applying and ACH transfer quickly instituted...so don't get discouraged when you see that screen.

Rejected By Chex Systems, As Well

Posted by: |

i open up CDs routinely, my credit is perfect but yet this is the only bank that rejected me due to a report from Chex systems. seems odd to me.

They Trust The Wrong Credit Checker

Posted by: |

I tried to open a CD for over $423,000.00 but I was denied because of the Chex reporting co. I was denied before by another bank because of Chex and from what comments I've read Chex has screwed other people too. If my credit is so bad how come I'm approved whenever I apply for a CD where they don't use Chex?

Nobody Home

It is nearly impossible to reach anyone at Eagle Bank. I called 7 times yesterday and for several days before that. They say that someone will call you back and save your place in line. NOPE. After putting six figures into this bank, I am not getting a very good feeling. The CD rate was good, but I don't think that I will continue my relationship with them after it matures. Not worth the hassle.

"My Attempt At Opening A CD" - Or "Why I Cancelled My Application."

Posted by: |

On September 4, I applied online for a 12-month CD. The process seemed straightforward. At the end, when I clicked on "Submit Application" I kept getting a system error message.

The next morning, I called and was told by a gentleman that the system error message was a known problem but that my application looked complete, and I should hear something in a few days.

After waiting until September 17 with no communication, I called in the morning. The CSR was not friendly, seemed to reluctantly talk to me rather than be happy to have me call. It was so bad I said I would call back because her attitude was similar to what you find in a D.C. area fast food place.

I called late in the day of September 17 and, after being put on hold a while, was told my application was "under review." I said it had been two weeks and asked was that normal processing time. Again, I was told that the application was complete but "under review." I stated that since this was taking so long, rates had dropped, and I'd like to get the application completed before they drop again. I was then informed that the application was "under review."

Due to, frankly, CSRs who don't sound like they understand that they are there to help their customers, and the fact that I applied and two weeks later still had no idea when, or if, the application would be processed, I cancelled it.

We all have choices and based on how the CSRs (2 of 3) interacted with me, and the fact that I believe the bank dropped the ball on processing my CD application, and that the online system continually gave me system error messages, I'll look elsewhere and sleep better at night. Peace.

Ineptitude With Attitude From Eagle Bank

I had the same experience as most people here: nothing gets done in this bank! A complete waste of time, and that's just for savings. I can't imagine dealing with these clowns for a loan!
It's incredibly difficult to reach customer service, and when you finally do, there's an unpleasant, ignorant person at the other end.
I accept ignorance, because we all need to learn. What I don't accept from customer support is stubborn ignorance paired with arrogance, and being unwilling to help.

Surprisingly Good

Was able to open a 12 month cd on a mobile device, link an external account in order to fund it and have a substantial amount moved into the cd in 24 hours. Very pleasantly surprised by the ease of the process and the fact that Eagle does not have moronic limits on its inbound transfers as has become customary for many online banks and credit unions

This Bank Is Manned By Sloths

Posted by: |

One would think a bank would welcome people depositing money into CDs, but when it comes to Eagle Bank, that logical assumption is wrong.
It's manned by sloths, so nothing gets done in a timely manner.
The health rating currently shows B, but that's likely to fall further the way Eagle Bank manages assets and handles customers.
I strongly suspect this bank is in trouble hence the higher APY rates. But even at these rates, Eagle Bank won't fool me into depositing my money there! There's plenty of much, much better financial institutions to choose from.

What Is Wrong With This Bank?

They quickly turned me down on depositing money with them. WTF? No bad credit, no bad checks, funds ready to deposit!. Hope they go broke! Do not waste your time to give them a penny, not worth the effort.

So Far, So Good

I opened a 1 year CD at 5.40%. Couldn't have been more easy. Applied late Friday night. Seemed to take only 5 minutes or so. I checked Saturday morning making sure it was open. Yep, opened... I've been applying and buying CD's for 20 yrs or more. This one may have been the easiest. I'll check on it in a month

Opening A CD Online Is A Pain

Posted by: |

The reviews here indicate that opening a CD in person is much easier than doing it online at Eagle Bank.
I tried to open a 1 year CD online, and the Eagle Bank online system is basically a simple form to enter information. It does not do any verification.
The actual processing is done manually by the staff, which works at the slowest pace possible.
I guess the high APY rates reflect how badly Eagle Bank needs capital, because obviously they are unable to get customers otherwise.

Abysmal Experience Opening A CD At Eagle Bank

Lured by the high interest rates, I tried opening a CD at Eagle Bank. Naturally, I temporarily lifted my credit freeze at all 4 bureaus for a couple of days, which is plenty of time for any financial institutions to do a credit check. Apparently not so for Eagle Bank that needs more than a week!

After 5 days, my application still was not processed.
On a Friday, I get a call from a number I don't recognize and which did NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. Most of those calls are spam, but this one turned out to be Eagle Bank.

I called Eagle Bank on the Monday after. Their automated system is terrible! You're prompted to enter the last 4 digits of your SSN, and when you do, the system doesn't recognize them because the account is not open. There's no clear way to get through to a representative. After hours of trying, I accidentally found out you have to press 0## when your SSN is unrecognized in order to be placed in line to a representative. But then the system doesn't let you wait for more than 3 minutes without placing a callback on your behalf, and haging up. .
After many tries I found out pressing 0# will place you back in the waiting queue instead of having a callback.
After hours being on the phone with eagle Bank automated system, I finally reached a representative. My joy was short lived, because she was unable to give me any definite answers other than the application was cancelled because my credit report was frozen. She told me that even if I lifted the credit freeze again, Eagle Bank wouldn't proceed with my application; instead, they wanted me to start a NEW one!
The representative was also unable to give me even a rough estimate for how long I should lift my credit freeze. Indefinitely is not an option nowadays, considering how often these corporations leak our personal information.

Now that my application has been cancelled, Eagle Bank still has all my personal information, including my account at the financial institution from which the CD was supposed to be funded, which is even more worrisome considering their incompetence and disregard they show for their customers.

The application for the CD unecessarily requires entering the info of the source bank, so if the application is denied, Eagle Bank has the info of my source bank. The source information should only be required if the application is approved! Secondly, there are no updates sent regarding the application, and no instructions on how to get its status. You only get an email that you submitted an application, no subsequent updates. Only by accident I found out how to see the application status, which is by trying to "Log In" even though I haven't enrolled in online banking. What?! Anyway, day after day I checked the status of my application and it showed it "Under review" until the weekend when it added "Contact Us". So now there's even more time before I can get that CD because I have to wait to call EagleBank on Monday.

Easy-Peazy CD Opening

Posted by: |

Opened up a 1-year CD on-line and likely the easiest CD I ever opened. No photos etc etc. and approved almost immediately. Funds transferred swiftly via ACH! Other than credit unions (which in my experience are tortuous and deny apps for unknown reasons) would be difficult to obtain a 5.44% APY for a 1-year CD that will extend into July 2025 (when the rates will be nowhere near that).

Nice Bank For Cds

Posted by: |

Normally I don't bother with local banks in my area (Maryland) because the rates generally are poor in comparison with national on-line banks.

But I happened across EagleBank who was offering 5.44% APY on a 12 month CD. One of their branches was only a few miles away, so I drove over there and opened a CD. The 5.44% APY was available in my choice of terms from 12 months to 17 months (I chose 17 months), which was not at all obvious from their online rate sheet (12 month @ 5.44 and 18 month @ 5.08).

No hassle to open, took five minutes.
