In my experience, Genisys is not an institution with integrity. I refinanced my vehicle through Genisys by way of a third party and had no previous experience with the bank.

It is clear that they go to great lengths to ensure that making principle only payments and attempting to pay off a loan early as difficult as possible.

Their online platform is lousy and their customer support was unimpressive (they have a chat feature on their site but good luck getting someone to answer a phone). I'm looking forward to jumping through the necessary hoops that will allow me to pay off my loan and be finished with Genisys.

Horrible.

I really wish I would have dug a little deeper before shackling myself to this institution. I guess that is on me, but please listen to the rest of us and stay far away. I refinanced my vehicle through them approximately a year ago because they had a better rate and lower payment options than some of the other banks and credit unions I was offered (suggested to me by a third party website). The process of refinancing was not horrible but it was not great either and this should have been my first sign of trouble. Right away, I started having trouble. Not only did I receive no follow up after the refinance as to how to pay on my account (causing my initial payment to be late) but then the online system is next to impossible to use. There is a weird money transfer system just to make a monthly payment and good luck trying to skip a payment if you need to. They require a "donation" to use your allotted once a year skips and the only way to "donate" said money is to deposit money into the checking account that automatically gets opened up for you when you get a loan through them. Except, guess what, can't really do this if you aren't local. Only a wire transfer will do. A wire transfer - for $25. Ridiculous. At one point, somehow my autopayment did not go through (don't even get me started on how much of a pain it is to set up autopay) so this made me late on the account. I was unaware of this however because despite them apparently calling me, no one ever left a message so I had no idea it was them and that there was a problem. Until, that is, they DOUBLE CHARGED my next payment. So instead of $400 coming out of my bank account, nearly $800 came out. Without them telling me. Which essentially made it very difficult for me to pay my bills that month. Also, I get that they're a bank and they need to be secure, but the amount of security you have to go through just to change your password on the online account is ridiculous. I have never experience such low quality online systems and backwards customer service. Can't wait to refinance again and get out of here.

Horrible Incompetent Service

This incompetent CU closed my new accounts with inadequate communication — resulting in suspended ACH transfers by Ally twice, each time requiring hours of security verification to unfreeze. The issue is that I’m at an FPO (U.S. military) address and their limited site doesn’t even list these options, so instead, I put my permanent address on the application form, which is also on my credit report. They never asked for any explanation - just closed the accounts. Thanks for your service, indeed!

Chexsystems Sensitive

If you’ve applied for other accounts at other financial institutions recently, don’t bother applying here. They’ll reject you after approval and return your opening deposit and donation to the charity to establish your membership.

They Charge Fees Until Your Money Is Gone

During COVID, they charged inactivity fees on my savings. An online account, so no statements sent. They never emailed or called to let me know they were taking my money. They just did it. GREEDY, GREEDY Credit Union. They are not there to help. They just want to take your money, before you figure it out..

My Application To Open IRA CD Was Declined

I'm a 76 year old retiree, have an 800 credit score, and no open loans (other than credit card which I pay in full each month). After reviewing my account application, Genisys declined to open the account. This was a "first ever" for me, and I phoned them to find out the reason. The CSO told me that I would receive a call-back to explain. Genisys did not call me back. I see from the reviews that other Genisys would-be account applicants have been treated with similar disregard. I do not recommend this financial institution.

Quickest Closed Account Ever

I dutifully went through the extensive online application process which included information pulled from my credit file. I then funded the account from an external bank. The deposit posted and all looked good. Within 12 hours of this, I received a message from a CSR that my account had been closed. No explanation as to why. I suggest you avoid the waste of time in applying here.

Worst Bank

Stay away from this bank. Terrible. Everyone is rude. No one Answers the phone. I bought a car with them 2 years ago because I got into some financial trouble they said would take care of me. They even sold me a terrible warranty with the car that did not cover anything. And she tried to argue with me that I didn’t buy it from the bank from the loan officer that sold it to me. So when the car broke down I got stuck paying it. Then they try to say I didn’t have any insurance on my vehicle and added more money on my loan without me knowing. So it made my payments go up. They don’t care here at all. Now I’m stuck paying for a car that barely works. They are scammers if you have an account with them I would watch every day and check. This is the only website where they have 4 stars type in genisys credit union on google to read the reviews before you sign up.
