I love Tinker Federal Credit Union!! I have been with the CU since 11/21/14 when I turned 16, and I can say the past 6 years have been stressful, BUT! When I go into my local TFCU branch to conduct deposits and/or cash withdrawals, I have not once had an issue with the Seminole Branch at 2221 N. Milt Phillips, Seminole, OK. They’ve always been my number one in financial institutions. I love how their MoneyPlus Visa check card is instantly issued at any full service branch, and while you have to wait 7-10 calendar days for your replacement Visa debit card to arrive in the mail, it isn’t a horrible wait. They reissue and mail you a replacement debit card the month of the expiration date, and it arrives in time for you to activate it before your existing card cancels out automatically. One of the things I love about this CU is that they, like most financial institutions accept Apple Pay as a payment method with the MoneyPlus Visa check card. The only request I have is that cardholders can verify their card for Apple Pay use via text message, instead of having to call into Member Services from Monday thru Friday between 9-5 CDT to verify their card number for Apple Pay usage, especially if they don’t receive their replacement card in the mail until after Member Services has closed for the day, or if they receive their card on a day that Member Services is closed, (i.e. Weekend or Federal Holiday)
Really a great bank, been with them for years. We have both direct deposits and traditional checks, as well as checking and savings accounts. The app has a picture deposit function that has come in handy more than once. I regularly go in for a deposit and split my check between both our accounts and each of my children's Saver accounts.
I've been a member for 15 years or so and they are consistent across all of their branches. Inside the credit union, they have enough tellers working to keep lines short and greet you as you come in. They also try to keep it easy to use their services, for instance they sell stamps through their ATM machines, before chip cards became the standard you could get a new ATM card in the branch instead of waiting for one to be mailed to you and their website offers a lot of budget tools and calculators that are free to use.
I appreciate that they support the local community both through fundraising and by giving back to their members. Examples of their fundraising include displaying wreaths and other seasonal decor at their branches and selling them to support local charities, volunteering at the holiday lights display and sponsoring various groups in the community. Giving back to their members includes discount tickets to local venues and monthly random reimbursements of a bills.
I mainly use their web services and they are very user friendly and intuitive. I like that they have mobile deposit and that all services can be done online, including contacting customer service, researching account histories, transfers, etc.
I needed a savings account and I was very happy to have qualified for an account at Tinker Federal Credit Union due to being a college student. They only require that you open your account with $5 but I decided to put $5000 in my savings account and watch it grow. I also installed their mobile app on my phone which gives me an the current balance and my account information. Unfortunately, their mobile app is very buggy and has alot of issues (it crashes alot) when you try to login as well as operate the app. Hopefully a fix is in store. Overall, I am a big fan of the company. They have the highest rate around that I have seen and their online and bank customer service is great.
I have a checking and saving account with Tinker Federal Credit Union and I have since 2002. They are very responsive to my personal needs, like when I had trouble paying my car loan one month, the Credit Union allowed me to skip that payment for a couple weeks until I was able to pay. There is an overdraft protection that allows for your bills to be paid even though you may not have the funds at the time. The fees are a bit aggressive but nothing too much. If you allow it to get out of hand they can become a lot. Tinker has been with me through a lot of financial decisions and I will always consider them first when I have financial questions.
I have been banking with Tinker FCU for about 6 years now, and I have had a good overall experience with them. I have taken multiple loans for cars through TFCU and I have always gotten a decent rate. The customer service is quick and friendly, no matter the issue. I had an issue in the summer of 2014 where I had checks stolen and forged, and TFCU refunded the money to my account very quickly and there were no questions asked about the issue. There has only been one time that I was less than 100% satisfied with them, and it was because I was trying to get a loan for a new car in 2013, and they did not want to give me all that I needed despite having perfect payment history through them and a good credit rating. I ended up getting the loan through another institution as a result, but I still bank with TFCU. I use their online banking almost daily to pay my bills automatically, check balances and transfer funds. Their mobile app is very user friendly and easy to set up. TFCU is members only for military, ex-military and certain employers throughout the communities that they are present in. If you are able to get an account with TFCU I would highly recommend them!
If I could give a negative review, I would. We had a car loan with them that we refinanced. However, they insisted that we switch to their GAP insurance (which when I went to the car dealer to cancel the GAP...they warned me to not do so...but the interest rate was lower so we did).
Well, my daughter was in an accident and the car was totalled. The GAP went back through all the years of the loan looking for late payments, fees, our deductible, etc. Anything they could find and ended up saying they didn't have to pay and that we still owed TFCU over $1000.
We went in and talked to several people to no avail.
Later, when we went to buy another car we found they had reported the $ as a repo...not a missed payment.
Stay far far away from this institution.
TFCU member logs into a deceased members online banking. Gets answers to security questions by asking family members. Goes into an account they are not on and their name is NOT on the account. HACKS into the deceased members account then transfers money from the deceased account and puts it into their account where they are the sole owners only. They impersonated a member, used their passwords, answered their security questions, and then transferred it into their own account. I requested TFCU look and investigate this activity and then TFCU opens a case and realizes illegal activity has occurred but they do not alert authorities about this illegal activity. That is not doing their due diligence or being responsible law abiding institution by not reporting the actions and behaviors to the proper authorities !!! This is clearly letting crime pay and clearly turning a blind cheek to what is an obvious blatant crime.
