Travis CU has great customer service

Posted by: |

Every time I've had to visit a branch of Travis CU, the staff has been lovely. Setting up my account and subsequent visits have all been pleasant and I've been met with a smile each time. The best experience, however, was with their online customer service. Due to limitations on the type of savings account I had at the time, I went over the amount of online transactions I could have in one month after having to pay an unusual number of bills online. This caused two fees of $29 each to be debited from my account. It was my fault, and information I should have made myself aware of before it happened.

I immediately contacted customer service, as I wasn't sure why the fees had occurred, and asked for clarification. Despite the fact that it was the day before New Year's Eve, customer service responded on their online messaging system in less than half an hour and explained what had happened. They also refunded the fees to my account. I hadn't asked for that, or even expected it to happen, it was done as a gesture of goodwill. I can't recommend Travis CU enough.

Travis CU, a solid credit union

I've been a customer with Travis Credit Union for nearly a decade.

I first went with Travis Credit Union because of their competitive (at the time) savings interest rates and convenient location. I've used several of their services and products including the free checking, savings, CDs, and loans.

These days, I keep most of my money in Travis Credit Union but no longer live or work in an area that is conveniently close for doing my in-person banking. I mostly do everything through the mobile app. All of my issues with my service are only from the mobile app, which lags behind the mobile banking experience of other banks. I think there is room for improvement here.

Still, the outstanding customer service is what keeps me with Travis Credit Union. I'll likely be using their services for a long time. I don't mind that the savings interest rates aren't able to be competitive, presently. Hopefully, though, the savings and CD rates go up so I feel better about using those services.

Not Well Trained Customer Service Representatives

Not well trained CSRs give wrong and/or incomplete information makes application process unnecessarily frustrating. Need to constant follow up until given direct number to new account department which is 707/469-1999.

Travis Credit Union-california

I opened a TCU account when I was 19 and in the military. I entered the military at 18 and kept a small bank as my main bank. Eventually I realized I needed a bank where I lived-California. My bank before was in Kansas. Right off the base: Travis AFB near Fairfield, CA, was the Travis Credit Union. I originally found them when I purchased my second car through CarMax in Fairfield, CA. They gave me my first car loan and I had a very good interest rate (4.5%) for having almost no credit history. (Credit unions LOVE military members since its guarunteed payment generally just by going to the leasees military boss if there are any issues). I had a very long payment-6 years.

I then opened a checking/savings through them. (regular checking/savings).
I didn't like the credit union. They had very limited hours. The customer service was nice, their fees were better than others and I did have a larger interest rate with my savings account (with it only being a regular savings account too) than I would have had at a bigger institution like Bank of America/wells fargo. I just didn't like the lack of ATMS, the limited hours for their offices, and honestly I found their phone tree for banking services via phone to be completely lacking in any sense (more so than big companies). I rarely was able to get help over the phone.

I kept the loan through them, but I lasted about 3 years with a savings/checking account. I then went to a big bank-Bank of America.

Do Not Use Travis Credit Union

Stay away from TCU. I've been with them 15 years for both personal and business. Fed up and now moving accounts. Here's why -- they were never able to get ACH working after years (they admitted they don't know why). Significantly higher interest rates than competitors on auto & home loans. App doesn't work 30% of the time when making remote online deposits (so frustrating). Employees don't take accountability. Often the website is down showing some "Microsoft Server Error". They don't answer their phones -- ever! Can't display member monthly statements online using Chrome or Explorer browser (you must use Firefox). ATM didn't dispense $400 w/draw at partner bank last month, TCU, still has yet to acknowledge the error, even after going into branch to report it to the manager directly (we tried calling, but remember, they don't ever answer their phones); now we're forced to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency b/c that's our only recourse it appears. You would be better off stashing your cash in a shoebox under your bed.
