Local Credit Union has Community in Mind.

Initially we did open this account with the purpose and understanding it would give us a better rate on a vehicle loan, but that is not why we stayed so long. We had to have an account there to "do business", and I had always heard that Credit Unions really were a lot different than banks. To be honest, I am not sure if I saw that at an account level. I had a savings and a checking account there and never did much with either of them. I would use them on occasion, as they were not my main account. I liked having that extra little "piggy bank" that I racked money up with. I watched them grow from a small little office, to a beautiful building, and then not a few years later, they opened a second location. I guess, business was booming. They eventually closed their other location and went with their newest, which was a renovated rehabilitation center. I liked their customer service, and I loved that they bought a cow every year from the 4-H fair kids. They put posters up of everything going on, offered popcorn and a drink if you needed it or wanted it. Their checking account though, I never got an ATM card, though I asked a few times. We used to laugh and say the bank was holding my money hostage. I also loved their coin machine. They offered it in their lobby and did not charge their customers to use it. I should go back to that credit union, all of a sudden I miss it.
