Membership in Union Square Credit Union is open to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Texas counties of Archer, Baylor, Clay, Wichita, or Wilbarger, or the Oklahoma counties of Cotton or Tillman. Texas residents who join either the Texas Consumer Council or the American Red Cross-North Texas Region are eligible to join, as are Oklahoma residents who join the American Red Cross-Oklahoma Region.

Union Square Kasasa Cash Account
I've had and used the Union Square Kasasa Cash account for some time. The rules to qualify for the current 6% rewards checking interest rate are very clear, and the credit union has applied them fairly and accurately, at least for my account. When I meet the requirements, I get the 6% interest rate on the balance in my account up to the $35K limit. I've had no problems with this account or this credit union, and would recommend it to others.
Rate Changes Effective March 1, 2024
I just got an email notification that Union Square FCU is changing their Kasasa Checking account rates and cap from: $35K to $25k. Interest rates drop from 6,01% to 4.50% APY. Over $25k rate drops from 1.50% to 0.75% APY.
Not happy about this, but at least they informed the customers in advance.
Kasasa Cash Checking Account
The effective APY as of 7/1/2023 for this account is 6.01 APY up to $35,000 if the following requirements are met:
1. 1 direct deposit, ACH credit, or ACH payment transaction post and settle each monthly qualification cycle
2. 12 debit card purchases post and settle each monthly qualification cycle
3. Be enrolled in online banking and receive statements electronically.
However there is some fine print in the Kasasa Accounts Truth in Savings Disclosure that USCU will determine if you qualify for this rate. Read carefully to determine if this account is for you!
