It was established in 1953 and as of December of 2024, it had grown to 169 employees and 38,231 members at 7 locations. ValleyStar Credit Union has a C+ health rating.

Field of Membership Restrictions

ValleyStar Credit Union offers membership to those who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Virginia counties of Amelia, Amherst, Appomattox, Augusta, Bedford, Campbell, Caroline, Charles, Chesterfield, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Franklin, Goochland, Hanover, Henry, King and Queen, King William, Louisa, New Kent, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Powhatan, Prince George, Roanoke, or Sussex, and the Virginia cities of Colonial Heights, Danville, Hopewell, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Peterburg, Richmond, Roanoke, Salem, Staunton, and Waynesboro. Individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the North Carolina counties of Caswell, Halifax, Rockingham, or Stokes, and the North Carolina cities of Eden, King, or Reidsville, also qualify for membership.
