Vibrant Credit Union is headquartered in Moline and is the 11th largest credit union in the state of Illinois. It is also the 415th largest credit union in the nation. It was established in 1935 and as of December of 2024, it had grown to 156 employees and 60,725 members at 6 locations. Vibrant Credit Union has a C health rating.
I have had a checking account for a couple years but recently opened a preferred savings account there. Currently the rate is 4.5%, which is great for a local credit union. Not only that but they converted my no-fee checking account at the same time and now that account gets 4% interest as well. I did have an issue when setting up some ACH transfers but got a hold of support and they took care of it right away with me. Pretty happy with it.
Tried to open a CD. From trying to link accounts to what is required to open it was too much trouble. The system to open account hit a snag when trying to open CD. I wanted to make sure they would not try to pull funds later, I called them. I should have just told them to cancel everything and move on. I DID NOT! I gave them a second try. They set up the ACH withdraw. I also had to sign a DocuSign, that made no sense at all. A couple days later, no funds were moved yet. WHAT??? I called and cancelled everything. (They wanted me to sign another DocuSign to close the CD that was never funded. I said "Do what ever, but I'm not sighing to close an unfunded account.")
A few hours later, I received a call from the manager. She was very pleasant. I informed her that the run around to open a CD was just not worth it. Everything was closed and I moved on.
I will say they have the best and politest customer service I have seen in a long time. It was so good, that in the future I may just try them again.
Another potential scam bank. They simply gather your personal info only not to open the account.
Completed the entire application for a 9 month CD for an amount close to the FDCI limit, the application was rejected on the last screen, even after connecting the account where the funds would come in from. No explanation give, just an absolute waste of time.
Surprising update:
I made my first post on this Credit Union back on February 10, 2024. I gave them 4 stars. I was a little skeptical because they wanted my SS Card and only the front side of my drivers license. Now after I have open 14 CDs and two saving accounts, I can't close my CDs or renew them for the best rates until I show them a color driver license, this time front and back and also mail that say where I live. Until then, I'm stuck with my CDs rolling over to a 12 month CD at 0.010%. And know that this Credit Union is the only one that i know of that does not accept military identification. I'm moving.back to Synchrony. Pays a little less, never had bait and switch. I have to reduce my rating to one star.
First Review:
I'm not a young saver, but when I ran across this 5.5% CD rate for $5 I had to check it out. I tell young people and oldc to start off with whatever you can and it will add up. If things go well, I will introduce my friends to Vibrant.
Overall rating is 4 stars because of the other lower rates.
CS rating is 4 stars because I needed my SS Card but I only needed to show the front side of my driver license.
Personal service here has been thrown out the window. For many years 'Vibrant " has handled our mortgages. Very satisfied. Recently needed a new small mortgage and were hoping for a bridge loan, as available to us in the past. No longer available. Not in the current business model. They are moving to a virtual type. Anyhow to get from purchase of new property to sale of then current property would take less than 20 days. Mortgage was sold to an inept Texas Corp in less than 10 days. We were NEVER told of their intention to sell new mortgage during application process. Was made aware at the closing. Never would have done business with them if they had disclosed this to us. Never will EVER again. STAY AWAY. Had also talked to a "mortgage vice president " who was rude and VERY smug.
This is the rudest, most unprofessional credit union I have ever had to deal with. They bought out my credit union, and I knew I should’ve left then. There is no personal service. Instead of calling my local branch, I have to go through their headquarters in Moline I can never speak to a manager or a supervisor when needed.
