Vista Bank is headquartered in DALLAS and is the 66th largest bank in the state of Texas. It is also the 672nd largest bank in the nation. It was established in 1912 and as of March of 2023, it had grown to 163 employees at 20 locations. Vista Bank has an A+ health rating.
I have been using Visa Bank since the first of the year and elected the VistaSmart Checking which requires 30 debits and 2 ACH transactions per month to receive their highest interest rate which is 3.51% on a max of $30K. Boy, was it a hassle to meet those requirements so I decided to quit and just keep their Horizon Checking account. When I called the branch in Austin to change, I inadvertently called one day before the qualification period ended and did not receive my last month's interest. I wrote to the bank and they credited me with the missing interest. That was nice and saved me from losing nearly $80.
Bank recently lowered their rate from 3.51% to 2.5%, which is still one of the highest rates in the current market conditions.
They overhauled their mobile and website design in July/2020. Much cleaner design and very functional to use.
It is one of my favorite banks with high interest. You do have to complete 30 debit transactions as part of the requirements to avoid a $4.99 monthly fee.
The bank also offers another checking with lower monthly requirements and it has no monthly fee. I have switched back and forth depending on my situation without issues.
Vista Bank is a long way from where I live, but I was able to open an account without having to drive to the bank. Susie was very helpful in emailing me all the necessary documents and forms needed to open my account. While it does require 30 Debit card transactions per month to receive the 3.51% interest it was not a big issue for me.
The only complaint I have is that your account must be open for 90 days before you can use the Mobile Check Deposit feature....that was never mentioned? The mobile app will simply say that you have no accounts eligible for mobile deposits.
