Short Term 5% CD Deals

POSTED ON BY

I found a few CD specials with rates of 5% and over with terms of 25 months or less. Since interest rates are rising, you may want to avoid locking into a long term CD even one with a high rate. Unfortunately, the CDs that I've found are from credit unions which have restrictive fields of membership (FOM). But if you live near one of these credit unions, there's a good chance you can join. In fact, one of them (King County CU) allows anyone in Washington State to join. Also note many of these are specials that may expire by the end of this month.

As advertised on the websites as of October 26, 2005. All rates in APY

  • 5.25% - 14 month CD, $50K min (5% CD only has $5K min), MIT FCU, Cambridge, Massachusetts (FOM)
  • 5.12% - 10 month CD, $5K min and $500 chk acct balance, Coastline FCU, Jacksonville, Florida (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 5 month CD, ? min, Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Fort Knox, Kentucky (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 6 month CD, $5K min, Texas Telcom CU (pdf), Dallas, Texas (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 15 month CD, $10K min (new deposits only) North Georgia Credit Union, Toccoa, Georgia (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 25 months CD, $90K min (also 4.75% $50K min, 4.60% $20K min and 4.50% $2.5K min) LBS Financial Credit Union, Long Beach, California (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 6 months CD, $500 min ($5K max) Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, Huron, South Dakato (FOM)
  • 5.00% - 13 months CD, $1K min ($5K max) King County Credit Union, Seattle, Washington, (FOM - all Washington State)

Many of the CD specials that I have listed in previous posts are still valid: Oct 17th post, Oct 13th post and Oct 11th post.
