4.00% 6-Month / 4.50 18-Month CD at a Nevada Bank - and Reward Checking (Community Bank of Nevada).

POSTED ON BY

Update 8/2/08: The CD rates have changed. Please refer to the bank's website for the latest rates.

Community Bank of Nevada has some competitive rates on its CDs just like its sister bank in Arizona that I reported on yesterday. The competitive yields range from 3.50% APY for a 3-month term to 4.95% APY for a 36-month term. The minimum deposit is $1,000. Below is the full list of the competitive CD rates. The 12-month CD is also available in as an IRA certificate.

CD rates as of 7/15/08:

Term APY
90 day 3.50%
180 day 4.00%
270 day 4.19%
365 day 4.25%
18 month 4.50%
24 month 4.65%
36 month 4.95%

The bank raised the CD rates quite a bit since my last post in May. In addition to CD rates, it has also raised the rate on its reward checking account. The top yield is now 4.50% APY (up from 3.30% APY). What makes this reward checking account special is that the top yield applies to balances up to $100,000 (see post).

It appears a branch visit is required to open accounts. Branches are located in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Pahrump, Nevada.

The bank has been FDIC insured since 1995 (FDIC Certificate # 34043). It has a 4-star rating (excellent) at BauerFinancial based on 3/31/08 data.
