Rate Comparison and Bank Search Improvements at DepositAccounts.com

POSTED ON BY

I'm excited to announce two new features at DepositAccounts.com. They should help you better compare rates and make it easier to find specific banks and credit unions.

Feature #1: Comparing Rates

The first feature should help when you want the best rate, and you don't care which type of account it is. This feature can be accessed at the "Compare Rates" box which is on the right side on most pages.

In the "Compare Rates" box, just type in the investment amount and check the types of accounts you want to compare. For example, if you want to see where you can get the most return in a liquid account for a $100,000 balance, type in $100,000 and select the checking, savings and money market account. When you select "submit", you should see a rate table that lists the checking, savings and money market accounts that give you the best return on that investment amount

A few readers recommended that we combine the tables for savings accounts and money market accounts. I do admit that there isn't much difference between savings accounts and money market accounts. Typically, banks will offer limited check writing on money market accounts. Savings accounts almost always lack any check writing. However, there are a few banks which offer money market accounts without any check writing.

This new feature allows you to not only combine savings accounts and money market accounts, but also combine checking accounts, CDs and IRAs into one comparison table. Including checking accounts will ensure you don't miss banks like Incredible Bank.

When you select checking, reward checking accounts will also be included. If you are not interested in reward checking, just specify a high investment amount. Since most reward checking accounts have a low rate for the second tier, these will be pushed down on the table.

Feature #2: Searching for Banks and Credit Unions

The search feature has been improved. The new search box is right under the "Compare Rates" box. You can now select a search for a bank instead of searching the entire site. This will allow you to quickly find the DepositAccounts.com hub page for the bank or credit union. Our hub pages are designed to tie together all of the info about a bank including blog posts, reviews, product rates and financial health reviews.

Last Week's Major Upgrade

If you haven't looked around DepositAccounts.com recently, you'll want to spend some time reviewing our new rate tables. Major improvements were made early last week with new table formats and new bank hub pages. I described all of these new features in this blog post.

More improvements are on the way. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment. We are striving to be the best resource on the Web for all things deposits accounts, and we can’t be that without help from this great community!
