Happy Thanksgiving! With Thanksgiving marking the start of the holiday shopping season, I thought it would be useful to post on some discount and cash back deals from banks and credit card companies.
Visa Online Shopping Discounts: link, examples: $5 off on $50 at Target.com, $25 off on $300 at Sears.com
Discover Card Promotion: link, Receive a $20 Discover Gift Card for every $200 you spend on your Discover Card at over 160 participating malls nationwide.
American Express Walmart promotion: link, Spend $40 or more two times at Walmart Stores or walmart.com through 12/18/08 and get a $20 statement credit on your card account. Update: More details and limitations described here.
PayPal Holiday Promotion: link, Cash Back and Free Shipping from Major Retailers as well as eBay Deals (cash back begins 12/01/08)

Bank of America Mall: link, discounts from online retailers, you must have either a Bank of America checking account with a Check Card or a Bank of America credit card and be enrolled in Online Banking. Examples of discounts: 4% off from Target, Staples, TigerDirect; 3% off from Kmart, Sears; 2% off from Walmart, Apple Store.

Simple Cash Back: If you want to keep it simple with cash back credit cards, I recommend PenFed's Visa Platinum Gas Cash Reward credit card. It offers 5% cash back on gas purchases paid at the pump, 2% cash back on supermarket purchases and 1.25% cash back on all other purchases (see post).
