Of those brick and mortar banks having on line access, on line only banks and on line broker/investment companies do they all show in online profile a customers birth date?    And if birth date is shown should it be allowed for customer to edit day, month or year or combination of each by customer?

In my case for lack of anything to do I changed my birth date, just see if I could.  A few days later I received a letter strongly suggesting I produce a valid picture ID and a utility bill matching change I made to my birth date and a current utility bill.

I'm just wondering do all on line institutions allow on line edits to birth date by customer. 

And what purpose would it serve to allow customer to edit their birth date online.

None of the online banks I know offer the option to change birth date; which one are you talking about?

For your case, obviously they will validate your birthdate even though it is an option.  So it is actually a non-option if you provided the correct and verified birth date in the first place (during the application process).

What is the issue here again and why would you want to change to a wrong birth date?

If securtiy is your only concern and you are obviously very sensitive about it (have no idea why you are so singly concerned about your birth date as a security issue), go ahead and change banks. 

I examine many factors, security is only one factor, to determine whether a bank/firm fits my overall financial needs.

I do not work for Fidelity, but they are not idiots to attract many investors and 401K accounts.

You seem to come here for the sole purpose of revealing the security weakness of Fidelity.  I, for one, do not agree with any of your issues.  For example, when I log in my Fidelity 401K/Roth IRA accounts, changing of birth date is actually not allowed at all.

Your concern is not warranted, IMHO.

Fidelity is a great company, with security as their top priority. 

But it is your call.

Fidelity Investments shows birthdate and allows user to change their birthdate.  According to Fidelity there are times a new customer enters a wrong birthdate and later wants to correct it.

I changed a correct birthdate to an incorrect birthday years ago just because I could and thought it would be extra security for my own account should account be hacked.  Hacker would have my worng birth date.

It came back to bite me when my password program or me forgot my password and I had to gain access and gave my correct birthday, I forget corrected date.  I received letter for a request of ID or my account would be suspended from trading.   I can still transfer to another broker if I want.

Should I just move my account to another where birth date is not shown or allowed to be edited or perhap compromised?

If Fidelity has security as a their top priority how is it I just went into my Fidelity account and changed my ID and password to same as I used to log into this site and signed out.  Then I went back in using same ID and password I use on this site and was allowed to see my birthday in my profile?

There is an online bank that has no profile for user.  Any changes must be called into a bank representive.

Another online bank shows a familiar predetermined picture along with a short phrase I created and it asks one or more secret questions before I am allowed to enter my password.

For access to my EFS account a file I previously downloaded has to be read by USPTO along with my password

Another bank sends me a text message with a 6 digit number I have to enter along with my password.

US treasury gives you a combination of all kinds of numbers and columns you have to find a corresponding number and good luck if you don't have that table with columns and numbers.

EBay, Amazon, Google mail and my email server account each only ask for an ID and password.  No birthday option to edit.

I remember awhile ago if not now there is no way to change a Youtube ID and keep what was under previous ID.

Fidelity is a great company but has no clue on making security their top priority.

In a week my account will be with another that requries "secret" answesr to my questions and my birth date is not in or editable in profile.
