Does anyone have the name of a good economist who has been highly accurate with summary and prediction on the economy?  I am seeking to have one or two good ones to follow.

Spring:  I never follow Economists.  They aren't psychics and the way our world spins anything can turn finances in another direction with just a rumor.  I have always just followed my own common sense and it hasn't let me down.  When they say buy don't buy long term CDs, I do just the opposite.  Experience and common sense will outdo any economist any day.  Have you ever listened to a group of them give their opinions of the economy?  They usually can't agree with one another even going by the same facts.  I am a "do it yourselfer" and don't have any regrets except I can't get CD rates higher.

Listen to Ken, Allen Roth if your are careful and frugal. Follow your gut feeling. None of them will steer you wrong.

Why follow an economist? Just get a lobotomy so you can trust our leaders. :)

Spring:  " Best to be well informed by quality experts and good quality information and proceed with caution and a lot of hard due diligence work."

You knew the best answer all along.  I like listening to a variety of experts and then making up my own mine.  (I haven't had Lou's lobotomy "yet". :)  )

My feeling is that if these "quality experts" had all the answers they would not be working to feed themselves and their families. They would be donating their time to inform others or doing whatever pleased them and their families.

Thanks for the two posts.  I will check into Ken, Allen Roth.  I also do agree with common sense as well, however,  I just read an article from Forbes where the writer had called so many things right that I was truly impressed.  Somebody out there has got to know much, much more than I do and I would like to get better informed.  I don't think common sense can always steer you right..  Best to be well informed by quality experts and good quality information and proceed with caution and a lot of hard due diligence work.

In my last economics class, the teacher said that if you get a whole room of economists and ask about the future, the only thing they'll agree on is what time to go to lunch.

I think economists are generally excellent at helping you understand what's going on now, or what just happened, but I don't know any who predict the future.

I like Art Laffer, Thomas Sowell.

Thomas Sowell for President.
