Just curious is anyone banks at Northpointe Bank in Grand Rapids Michigan?  Is the new Ultimate checking just a short term gimmick or it it for real?

Hi dpandslemmen-
The Ultimate Account product is not a promo rate or a gimmick.  Balances up to $5,000 can earn 5.00% APY and balances above $5,000 earn 0.10%.  The 2.54% APY disclaimer was based on an account balance of $10,000.  Northpointe is committed to this product and rate for as long as possible.  Several folks here at Northpointe worked at a previous FI in Michigan that has offered a rewards checking product for years and is popular on this site.  We understand the product inside-and-out and you can therefore expect stability in terms of the product and rate.  Please let me know if any other questions.  Thank you.  -Bill Clancy, Northpointe Bank

Thank you for the reply and the information.  Your bank name and location does intrigue me, but right now I am getting a better rate at a different location.  Maybe things will change in the future.

I see that they corrected and/or change the Interest rate for the account.  It used to say 5% upto $5,000 then 2.5% for everything above $5,000.  Now it says .10% for amounts above $5,000.
