Hi,

I'm new here. So what do you use CDs for? Retirement savings, savings for a goal like a house or all of the above. With bond rates so low, I'm thinking of using CDs for my fixed income. Thanks.

I utilize laddered CD accounts as the core of the fixed-income allocation of my retirement portfolio.

You could use them for any of those.  I have CD's staggered out so I have consistent income planned out for several years.  It is about as safe a way you can find to do that.  You won't get rich if you aren't already but you will certainly have mostly undisturbed sleep!
