I am expecting money from FEMA and did not want the check mailed to my home because of Thieves stealing mail.. so my son told me use his routing number and his account number for his Chase bank account and to see if FEMA would deposit my money into his account because he said his girlfriend got money from FEMA in her name and they deposited into his account and she was not on the account. but I'm a little worried that the bank might not accept it. Does anybody know how that works please help me because I don't know where my money is going. And I've had quite a few different people tell me yes they'll take it and other people say no I don't think they will

Have you already done this? If not then do it to your son's account. I don't think that FEMA knows who is on that account. If you are worried then have them send a check to your sons address and go get it.

Karla, I believe banks are not obligated to match on names, just on account #s. Without the right software, it's difficult for them to do so. Some might look only for specific sources, e.g., tax refunds, or amounts above certain levels. For those that do, your money could be returned to the source, i.e., FEMA. If you've not already given your son's info, I recommend using an account of yours. Less complicated, more direct, and avoids tainting your son's account with possible suspicions of fraud.

Thank you very much I just don't have an active bank account right now and dealing with the flooding here in Louisiana .. mail service is horrible people stealing your mail out of the mailbox that's why I was wondering about direct depositing in my son's acct.

FEMA will not put any money into an account that does not have your name and SS number on it as the owner.
