As I'm preparing a list of possible banks and CUs for when my Ally Bank 5 year CD expires in June, I find it tough that someone handles this type, but this is news to me. Anyone ever encounter this with a bank or CU?

Early withdrawal penalties are often waived for required withdrawals from an IRA.

Check out the requirement for withdrawals from the inherited IRA. Then ask for the written policy on penalties.

I think that's what they are confused about. I'm referring to closing the IRA entirely and moving it elsewhere if rates go up.
