Has Anyone Ever Had A Missing Billpay Check That Was Never Received?

I have to pay fire dues every year and I usually pay via billpay from Ally, Discover or CapOne360.

Never had an issue until this year.

The payment is considered late after the end of Jan. So, in trying to maximize my interest, I set the billpay for 1/29.

Except, they still had not gotten it as of friday.

Ally says they will issue a stop payment after 10 days with no fee and then I can send another one or pay in person or whatever.

They say the "might" reimburse a late fee if I can send proof but they won't guarantee it.

I have never been late in the last 20+ years on anything so I don't know if the fire department will waive the fee but I will ask them to.

In the event they don't waive the fee , I could be out the fee and that concerns me. Because I did everything right.

Anyone have any experience with this at Ally or elsewhere?

The payment is only $234 and that is not a lot of money to me. So its not like I didn't have it.
