Ken, in his blog on the Powell speech today, spoke of Ally Bank's 3.10% 5 year add on cd as an example of one way to play the fact that rates may have seen their peaks, and hedging against this. Are there other add-on CD that people might recommend? And I know the max for the Ally CD is capped at 100k, so other accounts without that cap would be interesting to hear about. Also, does anyone know if the Connexus 3.63% 5 year CD with an EWP of 270 days - Is that as good as it gets, or are there other good longish term CD plays as well. (I see that someone, can't recall the bank, has a 3.25% (I think) 3 year CD, that, even without a good EWP, looks like a pretty good intermediate term cd.
On a basic level, I'm trying to look into plays that would fit in Ken's thesis that we've probably seen the highest rates of the cycle, and would like to lock some longer term options in, before they disappear. TIA for any replies.
