How Do You Folks Find The Great Deals That You Post?

Great deals are posted here, and they come - and go fast. North Bay CU 4.03% CD last week lasted all of 3 hours before they dropped the rate. Keesler CU had a 5% 7 month CD offer that closed fast. Question - how do y'all find these great deals that you post here, BEFORE they post here???

Even as a member of many of these, I usually see the NEW rates right here first. I check this web site daily first thing in the AM. There is NO better spot that I have found. (THANKS, KEN). AND YES, you must react fast on most of these. Moderate ones may last the month, but really good ones get closed out quickly. I have had trouble moving some IRA products because the offer closes before I can get the paperwork done. THAT'S LIFE. Chasing yield can be a pain, but it is also a VERY WELL PAID part time job, usually done at home with a cup of coffee.

IF you do see something before it shows up here, then PLS post a note about it.

Comment timings show it lasted 11 hours, not 3? https://www.depositaccounts.com/banks/north-bay-credit-union/offers/

Ken's website automatically detects rate changes at most banks/CUs. You can follow the ones you're interested in for notifications here. (Some people also manually keep up with their favorite/local institutions on Facebook, local news ads, etc.) Then people call attention to the significant changes with a post.

I'm in California, and sleep late, so it was 3 hours after i saw it. :) But I still got in at the 4.03% !! But good deals do shut fast.

The asset of North Bay CU is just $49.3 million from the latest financials. Not much room for them to take on new deposits.

Hi Jeremy,
I feel your pain. I was fortunate to get in on the Kessler 5% and the Pentagon 3% 5 years ago, but have missed quite a few too. I went into my settings in my login account and now get update emails from Deposit Accounts every morning. I'm thinking this could get me ahead of the curve in the future. I hope this helps. Happy Investing and enjoy the beauty of compound interest!

I thought there was a delay from when it's offered to when it's posted here. I seem to remember one @ 4% 5yr that was available for a couple of weeks before it was posted here and once posted here lasted a day or so. Don't think it would be feasible to check manually since there are 1000s of banks and CUs. Guess you have to act fast.

"Don't think it would be feasible to check manually since there are 1000s of banks and CUs."

Not for one person trying to check them all. Many people each keeping an eye on a few, as I described in my previous reply, is what happens. Here's a recent example. That bank doesn't even have Ken auto-detecting its rates yet, so the only way that post happened is because someone was paying attention beyond this site.

"I thought there was a delay from when it's offered to when it's posted here."

Again as described in my previous reply, someone has to notice and call attention to it for the larger audience. Some happen to get noticed faster than others.

Not sure about your post of delayed notice. If so, it is an exception. I have found some local offers, found in a newspaper, that WAS NOT posted on their own web page. KEN's site does pulls from the web sites of banks and credit unions, but it is possible that it is an "un-advertised rate". Again, that is a real exception. We all ask that if someone see's something not posted here, then pls post about it.

I have NOT found any other place as good or better than this web site. It is more comprehensive and more timely than anything else I have seen. Thanks again, KEN, for the information posted here.
