How do I do this? Fidelity is of no help.

Will I pay taxes on this? There was no gain, obviously. THANK YOU

If your Fidelity account consists of stocks, you cannot "transfer" them to a CD. You will need to complete at least two, possibly three steps:
1. If you have not already done so, instruct Fidelity to sell whatever equity type investments are in your account  - like stocks, mutual funds, commodities, REITs, etc. There will almost certainly be some gain or loss on them, which is tax reportable, and net gains would be taxable, though it may be at a rate as low as zero, depending on your personal tax situation for the year.
2. Instruct Fidelity to transmit the balance of your account to you personally via ACH, wire transfer, check or whatever method is available and expedient for you - which may involve a fee.
3.(a)If you receive a check and the financial institution where you plan to invest in a CD allows it, endorse the check to yourself or to that institution using your new CD account number and give or send that to the new institution together with whatever paperwork they require to open the new CD. 3(b) Otherwise, you may need to deposit the check into a new checking or savings account at the new institution and request the institution to effect an internal transfer from that account to your new CD account.
3(c)If Fidelity allows an outbound ACH transfer for the amount involved AND the new institution allows an inbound ACH transfer for that amount, instruct Fidelity to transfer the balance in your account to the new institution for credit to your account and include your new account number, which you will need to obtain in advance.
3(d) Alternatively, you may be able to arrange for wire transfer, though that will probably involve fees at both ends.

What facts would you like me to write?

Believing this one time that you’re serious...You have stated nothing about your account and who knows about doing “this” whatever “this” is

Why would I be anything but serious? Why would I go to all the trouble to find this group, make an account, log in, write my question, check back constantly for answers???? "THIS" was clearly written as the word "transfer." I didn't know another word for when one takes funds from one place and puts them in another place. The only information I left off was my account number. Let me look it up and I'll post it here and the rest of the internet.

tealsea -- it is still not clear to me exactly what your situation is and what you are trying to do. In what form are your Fidelity funds -- stocks? mutual funds? bonds? cash account? That would affect the answer.

And what do you mean by transferring funds "to a cd", as stated in your initial question? Do you want to transfer funds directly from Fidelity to an existing add-on CD? Or from Fidelity directly to a new CD? Or from Fidelity to a checking or savings account elsewhere, and then use that money to open a CD?

There are so many permutations involved in accomplishing what you refer to as "this". CuriousDave mentioned only a few.

Clarification might result in your obtaining some useful information.

Did you not look at the title of my post? That was where this site requested that I put my question. If you don’t read that, “this,” indeed makes no sense.

I did read your initial question, as I stated in my post. I also stated that I did not understand your question. That may be due to my obtuseness or stupidity. But in the second paragraph, I asked a number of questions re what you meant by transferring funds to a cd, "as stated in your initial question". For whatever reasons, your question was not clear to me.

Rather than respond to questions, suggestions, etc. from CuriousDave (or for that matter, from someone as dense as alan1), you've chosen to insult people. (The most egregious of those insults appear to have been deleted by DepositAccounts.com)

It is therefore unsurprising that you have not received comments that you find helpful. At this point, I certainly have no interest in further engagement with you.

You might consider that a response to the OP from a member Choice, could have affected the attitude of OP.
Several members tend to project a Snarky attitude on DA

I'm glad to see that none of my posts were deleted. And why someone else would make snarky comments directed at me? I came here for help. This is a forum sponsored by deposit accounts. I assumed professionalism.

You’re mistaking attitude with frustration. And extreme disappointment that those of you with knowledge just want to bash those who don’t have your expertise

Assuming it was “OP” whose comments were deleted.
