Chase New Account Bonus Rules

I'm hoping the rep I talked to today was incorrect, but I called looking for the new account bonus on my investment account and was told Chase only pays one bonus per year and since I received one for Chase Checking that I would not be eligible for the Chase Investing bonus. Can anyone clarify this?
