Anyone Else Seen Or Dealt With This Error Notice At Ally?

I currently have 18 external accounts linked at Ally, the default system limit is 20. I tried to add another external account and after filling in all the information I got the following notice:

Add External Account

"error You've reached the maximum number of times you can add or delete accounts."

The part of that notice that has me the most confused is the part where it states that I can't delete any accounts I'm no longer using since I reached a delete limit. What?

I called the Ally CSR and they were puzzled. Even their tech support came up empty. I now have to wait until Tuesday for the back office operations to look into the matter.

So today I called Ally for an update. The CSR told me that since I opened my Ally account I have opened and closed 71 external accounts. Not at all out of line for being a bonus and rate chaser. Apparently I'm now on some restricted list at Ally. Since Ally is part of Early Warning Systems this would not be out of character for them. I have yet to hear back from the back office operations regarding my case number.

Today I was supposed to receive a call from the back office operations to resolve the issue with not being able to add or delete accounts, but true to the way Ally works no one bothered to call me back even though I had a scheduled call back appointment.

Tired of waiting for a call that never came I called Ally and happen to reach the first CSR that I spoke to about this issue. He informed me that the problem has been resolved. The CSR offered to add the new account for me to confirm that there were no issues doing so. He informed me that the problem was due to some old accounts not clearing the external account list so it was corrupting the external accounts add/remove process.

He informed me that I was not placed on any sort of restrictive list as the previous CSR stated. The CSR informed me that I can add one more account on my own until I reach 20, and that if I need to add more that I can call in and that all CSR's are now authorized to add as many accounts as needed beyond the default 20 on a case by case basis. This issue has now been resolved.

I have also hit that limit, but WAS able to delete an account, then add a new one. But of course it takes a while to get the new one up and running. VERY frustrating. Fidelity also works, but is a pain to set up accounts

Today I received an email from Ally that they reactivated the Dime Community Bank. Unfortunately that account was closed back in 2015 and I do not have a banking relationship with that FI. This problem at Ally keeps getting deeper. I called the CSR and they were able to delete that link, but unfortunately I'm still unable to add any other external accounts.

I hit an odd one today ..... cannot do the ACH because it exceeds limits. Had a pending ACH from days ago, but none yet for today. HIGH monthly volume this time, but when I called CS, they were able to schedule the ACH for me. NOT sure what is going on ....., but in general, Ally has been fairly good to deal with on most issues.
