I have a Merrill Lynch brokerage account that is a joint account with my spouse. If I buy brokered CD's in the account, will they be jointly owned CD's as well? I want them to be jointly owned to get the maximum FDIC coverage.

Yes, you'll get 500k worth of FDIC coverage. I confirmed this via my Fidelity rep and on the FDIC website itself.
