EDIT: Originally I posted asking why Sharonview's 4% CD isn't paying the same total as I get using Axos' Online "APY" Calculator. https://www.axosbank.com/tools/calculators/apy-calculator that I used for years -- even when the proper $, months (56 for me so far), and compounding frequency were used. The CD is "3.922 Dividend Rate / 4.00% APY" -- so I put in the *APY* in that Axos Calculator (4.00) like it asks, but it always shows a higher total than what I get. Only when I put in the lower DIVIDEND RATE does it match what Sharonview has been paying.
So I wasn't sure if Sharonview or Axos was wrong... but it looks like it's Axos.
Because I found another Online APY Calculator that shows both the APY AND Dividend Rate: https://www.omnicalculator.com/finance/apy and its totals match what Sharonview has been paying.
So sorry for the hasty post. Instead, just take this as a warning post:
For anyone using that Axos Calculator, do NOT rely on it. If you enter an "APY" like it asks for, it actually figures it as Dividend Rate instead, so it'll show a higher amount than you'll actually get.
Instead, change your bookmarks to that Omni Calculator (link above) or another one that knows the difference between "APY" and "Dividend Rate" when calculating -- and save yourself some trouble!
