Can anyone provide some insight here? I recently left the United States to live abroad. Before I left, I tried to open some Treasury bonds, but was refused because they couldn't verify my identity. I have a virtual mailbox in Nevada, but am not renting or own a place in the USA. I need to move money now that interest rates are rising, but I have no idea where the banks/credit unions are pulling their info on me when I try to open accounts. My driver's license?
At this point I am just limited to whatever banks I currently have accounts with. Is there an easier solution to this? I also recently changed my name back to my maiden name after a divorce. I was recently denied Andrews Credit Union and Savebetter for Sky and Sallie Mae. I have accounts with Sallie Mae currently.
