Can't Open Bank Accounts...

Can anyone provide some insight here? I recently left the United States to live abroad. Before I left, I tried to open some Treasury bonds, but was refused because they couldn't verify my identity. I have a virtual mailbox in Nevada, but am not renting or own a place in the USA. I need to move money now that interest rates are rising, but I have no idea where the banks/credit unions are pulling their info on me when I try to open accounts. My driver's license?

At this point I am just limited to whatever banks I currently have accounts with. Is there an easier solution to this? I also recently changed my name back to my maiden name after a divorce. I was recently denied Andrews Credit Union and Savebetter for Sky and Sallie Mae. I have accounts with Sallie Mae currently.

Because I have my credit frozen because of a server hack, I have to call the institution I want to open a new account with and tell them of my situation and ask which agency they use so I can unfreeze my information for just that one institution for 1 day or for how long it takes them to check it. You may call them tell them of your situation and ask them what you can do and what they check your information  on so you can open an account. Living in another country it may not be possible.

You have probably thought of this, but, a dollar-account (banking or securities) of a reputable foreign bank in the country held in its branch? One with USA base or offices in USA. Securities operations are sometimes less strict than banks in any location.

Have you tried opening a Schwab account. They deal international expats all over.
