It seems that your deposit is FDIC insured but they invest money in the market and then pay a potentially higher yield. https://joinsave.com/

Never heard of it before. Looking at their website, it's certainly an interesting concept. Basically is looks like you deposit for a 1, 2 or 5 year term (so like a CD in that regard). The money is deposited in a 0% APY bank account at Webster Bank, N.A. (that is where the FDIC insurance part comes in) and joinsave invests on your behalf that amount of money (based on your porfolio selection) , the returns (minus management fess, which is where joinsave makes it's money) become your interest. Zero or Negative returns result in 0% interest (so you won't lose your principal by depositing/investing with joinsave), Positive returns mean positive interest. No guarentees on what your interest will end up being as it depends on how the market is doing.

Surely, once favorite time frame is selected as target it could be exploited for the purpose of once again attempt to create parallel banking system.
Nothing new, back to 2008.
Derivativities, MBS, CDO... "I don't understand" says Allan again...
Casinos, at least, do not make claims that bets there are FDIC insured.
