Wondering , if anyone else that has certifcates at mountain america ,has been contacted by them recently.

It states that they have an employee there who acts like a cd broker . That he may find you hypothetically (their language) , better rates elsewhere and set them up for you and waive the early withdrawal penalty .

I've received nothing and my initial reaction is that it ay be some sort of scam. Did you check the actual email address where the email was sent from? A phone call to them on Monday may be in order. Keep us posted.

I too am a member with them, but didn’t receive anything. Sounds interesting, but also maybe a bit suspicious. Worth a call to them to confirm it’s not a scam email.

If that individual really is an employee who “acts as a CD broker,” chances are that person is sabotaging his employer. Besides which, as non-profit membership organizations, when have credit unions ever used (or even needed) brokers to market their offerings?

We hold several CDs there and only received email that our "statement is ready to view" this morning. I would agree with the follow up suggestions.

Nothing but normal stuff .... sure sounds fishy to me ..... by the way, give me your account number and PIN, and I'll check it out! ( not )

My credit unions send me an e-mail when I have a secure message telling me I need to log into my account to read it. If it was not sent that way, I would suspect a scam. I also never click on any links in unsolicited e-mail, did you?

Thanks for your input.
I was hoping someone had some kind of similar offer.
It’s gotta be from macu as they also left a voicemail showing their phone number. I do know that numbers can be spoofed, but they also asked if I would make an appointment and come to their office.I am not currently in that area so that’s not going to be an option.
I have a couple older cds with lower rates that will be maturing early next year so they are looking ahead. It’s a competitive game for your money right now , yes?

That would be very interesting if they’d be willing to waive the EWP and allow you to bump up the rate into something more competitive that they are offering like Navy Federal has done.

I just did a web search and found something that i was suspecting. Macu has an investment services and that’s where the “broker” comes in . So i am guessing that they will wave your EWP if you do something with their investment services.
But at what cost? Probably will never find out and keep the cds till maturity.
