Using CD Valet (Seattle Bank) To Open A Credit Union CD Account?

Has anyone opened a CD account via the direct links on CD Valet? I know anyone can browse the site without creating an account, but has anyone created a CD account at a bank or CU by clicking on CD Valet's "OPEN ACCOUNT" links (visible once you have a CD Valet account and are logged in) to open a CD account?

If so, is there any upside for going thru CD Valet rather than manually just going to the credit union's website yourself to apply? Will going thru CD Valet speed up that join process or is it just a "convenience link?"

I find CD Valet to be a very confusing, extremely aggravating site to navigate but decided to test them out. I created an account using a disposable online sms number (a cell phone # is required to log in) then did a search for CDs in the range I might want. Then on a few of the results, I clicked on CD Valet's "OPEN ACCOUNT" buttons. But it was hard to tell if CD Valet gives you anything special/makes it quicker to join/etc or not vs just going to the CU's site yourself.

#1: CD Valet says "(c) Seattle Bank" on some of their pages, and if you goggle "who owns CD Valet" the answer is "Seattle Bank."

#2: It also says CD Valet may be compensated by some places if people use their "OPEN ACCOUNT" option.

#3: I hate middlemen, fintech companies and big data scrapers. I'd never get a "real name" CD Valet account unless there's a huge benefit in doing so, not just "convenient" pre-filled out info.

My instincts say: Eliminate the middleman . . . go direct to the source. Else your 3rd party engagement adds more friction, and only asks for trouble. [Marketing, anyone?]

Shop around, of course — comparing the APY you get using CD Valet with the originating FI. There might be some advantage (as My2Cents... indicates) to opening via Valet — with a likely behind-the-scenes commission going to them. [Aren't valet's meant to be tipped?]

Do your own research, case by case; let us know what you find.
And Caveat Emptor!

I opened an account using CD Valet at Bank Iowa two months ago. The rate offered through CD Valet was much higher than using the Bank Iowa website with no downside as far as I could tell. Opening was quick and easy and nothing out of the ordinary was required. My account established and funded and I just went to the Bank Iowa site to set up my user ID/password and online banking. Easy, peasy!
