Do CD rates vary from Brokerage Firms? Which offers the best rates?

my observation is that brokered CD rates at the main brokerage houses are generally the same for new issue offerings. there can be subtle differences in brokered CD offerings and prices in their secondary markets. for instance, Vanguard offers some callable "step rate" brokered CDs in their secondary market that i haven't seen at Fidelity. it seems to me that Fidelity lists more bid prices for brokered CDs than Vanguard. even so, if wanting to sell a brokered CD and no bid price is listed, can simply request a bid and get an offer within a short period of time. another difference is most brokered CDs are offered in increments of $1K, however Fidelity offers some "fractional CDs" with a lower investment minimum of $100. these are typically offered at a slightly lower interest rate than similar CDs with the $1000 minimum.
