Any Reason To Keep Your Credit Union Membership Applications?

It's a little late now, as I shredded them all yesterday doing spring cleaning, but is there any reason I should have kept copies of my original membership applications for all the many CUs I belong to?

Before shredding them, I wrote down my member/account #s, and did keep any beneficiary pages... but since the original applications show everything from my SS# to even my "call center security password" I figured it was safer to shred them instead of keeping them forever in a drawer.

I can't think of one time I've ever needed them after I've joined. Too late now, but any reason to keep them once you've successfully joined?

Yes, definitely a reason. Had I not kept electronic records of my Sharonview FCU application, I might have forgotten that I become eligible only through the aegis of the Charlotte Folk Society, should somebody ask me tomorrow!

Yeah, it can be fun looking back at all the organizations, from folk societies to organic farmers, childrens charities to the ACC (which I still don't know what they actually do or provide, but it was free years ago so I won't complain).

But now the question is... do you still have your Sharonview acct or have you closed it? I can't imagine them ever offerering a leading rate again.

Sadly, it's still open. I blame Newton's 1st law, the one about inertia.
