Thanks to Mary and all for the discussion on credit union membership, and the remote possibility that it might be used as a loophole by insurance organizations -- including the NCUA -- to deny claims.

It seems like a good idea, then, to make sure we have written documentation in our files which verifies that we are legitimate members, for example:

(1) a printout from the credit union’s website of the eligibility requirements at the time we joined, and

(2) a receipt of some sort showing our association with the particular organization which made us eligible.
