Congress has introduced a new wrinkle regarding inherited IRAs that could potentially affect their taxation. A new bill has been proposed that would require inherited IRAs to be distributed completely within five years of the original owner’s death, eliminating the ability to stretch distributions. As of this writing, the new bill has not yet passed, meaning that stretch provisions are still in place.
