Getting More For Your Maturing CD When There Is A Bonus For New Money Only.

When a CD matured this week and I did not want to put more money into this CD, of course I did not get the bonus rate offered for new money. 

I emailed them and said if new money was more important that old money and old customers then I would take my money elsewhere and get a higher interest and asked to have the money put in my savings account so that I could have it transferred.  I received the higher interest.

Thought this might be of help to others.

Good for you Ally but that doesn't work for Chase.  Although I told them the money in their checking account could be proven to be from outside sources, they still refused to accept that and give me the bonus offers.  So now all I have at Chase is a meager checking account just to use to pay bills and I put everything else including our savings at other banks with better rates.  I just love taking the checks from "other" banks to them to cash for me so they can see I was not kidding.    I have never had a bank play as hardball as Chase when it comes to not appreciating customers who were with them for years.

With CIT I was recently offered a bonus rate for my maturing CDs and for any new money I wished to add to them.
